- Strip down the drive unit and assess condition on every component.
- A detailed report is completed which includes: gear mesh contact, backlash, endfloats, visual inspection and crack detection on gearing, shafts, coupling and housing.
- Detailed photographs are taken of all components and a written report is completed.
Gear Drive Services have one of the most advanced testing facilities and procedures in Australia. We have the capability of testing industrial reducers, speed increasers, wind turbines and fluid couplings.
Our advanced control system can test the different styles of power transmission gearboxes and simulate exact operating conditions onsite. We currently test gearboxes with a power range from 10kw – 3500kw ranging from ratios of 5:1 – 900:1.
Every setup must be carefully planned, considering some load tests are reaching in excess of 250,000NM of torque at the gearbox output shaft.
Load test tooling, adaptions, test shafts, couplings and mounting brackets are engineered specifically to every load test with power and torque figures in mind.
Complete drive assemblies such as ship loaders or bucket wheel drives can be load tested utilizing the final installed motor and coupling arrangement. The customers motor will be connected and tuned to our control system so a load test can be carried out on the entire assembly.
Load test data is logged in 1-second intervals and a report is created containing information on temperatures, power and speed figures.
Graphs and visuals are then created and compiled into a formal report for our customers.
